Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor‘s Dance Of Envy from Aditya Chopra's Dil Toh Pagal Hai cannot be erased from memory. Ditto for Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai's face-off to the tunes of Dola Re in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas.
Now, Bhansali is setting up the stage for another dance face-off.
Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone will compete in a lavni in his upcoming film Bajirao Mastani.
The choreographer appointed for the job is Remo D’Souza, and Shampa Sonthalia, the popular choreographer from Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa, is assisting him.
Shampa, for the last two days, has been conducting 6-8 hour rehearsals with both the actresses.
“Theyre both busy heroines and so theyve seldom made it together for the practice sessions, though in a way it works for the instructors because they get to focus on one actress at a time. But they are very much in touch; they call up each other during breaks and chat about the strenuous dance moves,” says a source close to the project.

Back then, Saroj Khan had been asked to choreograph.Last week, it was reported that Pandit Birju Maharaj, one of the best known instructors for kathak in India, will choreograph a thumri featuring Priyanka and Deepika- but Bhansali had second thoughts about the jugalbandi and decided to make it a solo act with Deepika.
When contacted, Remo confirmed the story, saying, Yes, I am choreographing a song with Priyanka and Deepika for Bajirao Mastani. They are both working very hard for it. I dont know how many days it will take to shoot this one, but its a very dramatic number. With two big actresses performing, I can assure you it will be nothing short of a grand spectacle."
